Analogue opened on Zeedijk: Where photography gets time again

In a city that is constantly on the move, Analogue on the Zeedijk is a haven for photography enthusiasts. What began as a passion project of two friends has grown into a creative hub where delay is central and images regain meaning.

With the opening of their flagship store at Zeedijk 80, Analogue is taking a new step in the world of analogue photography in Amsterdam. The store offers significantly more space for vintage cameras and film, but above all it feels like a meeting place for a growing community of makers and enthusiasts. The expansion fits seamlessly with the vision that founders Ralph and Julian started in 2020: to offer an alternative to the fleetingness of digital images.

The new location oozes creativity. In addition to a carefully curated selection of used and new analog cameras, you'll find an extensive selection of color and black-and-white film in a variety of formats. The addition of a modular gallery space makes it possible to present work by film photographers in an accessible way, also making the store a stage for local talent.

The versatility of the space is striking. For example, the store features a video tape station and a photo booth, responding to a broader nostalgia movement within visual culture. At the same time, core services remain: from 35mm film development and scanning to support for medium format photography.

“Those who slow down, see more - and that is exactly where the magic of analog photography begins.”

Analogue's growth is closely tied to Amsterdam itself. What began in a warehouse on the NDSM site in Amsterdam-North, grew via stopovers on the Rokin and Sarphatistraat to become a fixture on the Zeedijk. That journey reflects the organic development of a brand that not only sells products, but represents a lifestyle.

Analogue also remains active outside the store. With monthly photowalks through iconic Amsterdam neighborhoods, workshops and courses, the threshold to analogue photography is lowered. It is not about speed or perfection, but about attention and experience - exactly what is often lost in the digital age.
