On Sunday, April 26, the gates of the Forest Theatre will open for the new summer season. Free, for everyone, from 2 to 4 p.m. The Opening Party is a preview of the program scheduled for the coming months: theater productions, concerts, children's performances and movie nights in one of the most beautiful outdoor locations the city has to offer. In the middle of greenery, on a large open-air stage that is among the largest in the Netherlands.
The first big names have already been announced. Racoon is even coming by twice on May 3. The band has a firm connection to this stage and the audience knows it. Two nights, open air, surrounded by trees. It's a combination that works well. Later in the season follows Father John Misty, who performs June 8, 2026, as part of his Live At Amsterdam Forest concert. That's one of the bigger international names the Forest Theatre has managed to secure this season.
The theater is located deep in the Amsterdam Forest, far enough from the crowds to really escape but close enough to just bike there. That's exactly what many visitors do, too. The stage has room for large public concerts but, because of its natural surroundings, never feels like an anonymous event hall. Trees as backdrops, open air overhead. There is also parking on the Duizendmeterweg for those coming by car.
The wine list here is as serious as the cuisine. And that's exactly the point.
The Opening Party on April 26 is the appropriate way to get a sniff of what's coming this season. Admission is free and there is plenty to do for all ages. Come by bike, bring the kids, and enjoy two hours of theater and music in the woods. The season starts in May anyway, so this is really just a warm run-in. The wine list here is as serious as the cuisine. And that's exactly the point.
