Saam (derived from "South Africa on Amstel") is located on the Amstelzijde in Amstelveen. Chef Jasper Hermans and Margot Janse work together in the kitchen, accompanied by a sommelier team that uses both South African and European wines.
What makes Saam special is the way the cuisine brings cultures together without falling into clichés. A dish can start with a Dutch seasonal ingredient and end in a marinade inspired by South Africa. This creates flavors that are both familiar and surprising - not a colonial mix, but true fusion.

The setting is modest and intimate: the first floor has room for 40 guests, with a Chef's Table for smaller gatherings. There is also an upstairs that serves as a bar for wine and sharing experiences.
"Saam doesn't let two cuisines coexist, but one that makes you sing to you in taste."
Saam attracts people who want to explore - foodies, lovers of South African cuisine, as well as those who simply want a good night out. Because the menu is carefully curated and changes, each meal feels like its own story.
When you dine at Saam, you taste more than flavors: you taste dialogues between landscapes, memories and innovation.
