The astute lens of The Ravestijn Gallery

Since 2012, The Ravestijn Gallery has given space to photographers who combine curiosity with perspicacity and growth.

The Ravestijn Gallery represents photography that excites, reflects and innovates in a light-filled space on the IJ Waterfront.

In a place where old and new Amsterdam meet, The Ravestijn Gallery provides a stage for contemporary photographers who dare to go beyond the usual looking. Since its founding in 2012, Jasper Bode and Narda van t Veer have focused their attention on photographic art that questions and challenges visual language. This daring vision is expressed in exhibitions that range from conceptual montages to incisive portraits and experimental series, in which new perspectives constantly see the light.

The gallery houses not only a spacious first exhibition space overlooking the water, but also a so-called library - an extensive collection of photography books accumulated over thirty years. This makes it a haven where artists, collectors and enthusiasts can find depth in the rich context of the medium.

"The Ravestijn Gallery challenges you to take looking not for granted, but as an exploration of the depths and nuances of the world around us."

The program features regularly changing exhibitions by established photographers and new talent, often international and always with a critical eye. Recent exhibitions such as "Theatrum Mnemosynes" and the group exhibition "Behind Closed Doors" underscore the gallery's openness to stories about humanity, identity and the construction of images. Those who enter here are invited to participate in thinking about the stratification of the photographic image and the social themes associated with it.

A visit to this stage for visual exploration leaves one with questions and impressions that resonate for a long time. As such, The Ravestijn Gallery is not only a place for art, but also a space for dialogue and discovery within the wide range of contemporary photography.
