Museum Square soon to be dedicated to WorldPride and LGBTI+

Amsterdam is gearing up for one of the most special events of 2026. During WorldPride Amsterdam, from August 5 to 8, the iconic Museumplein will transform into the vibrant WorldPride Village: a freely accessible meeting place where culture, community and celebration come together in the heart of the city.

Surrounded by cultural icons like the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum and the The Concert Hall for four days, Museumplein will be the setting for a colorful mix of music, performances, talks, art and international encounters. From inspiring conversations with LGBTI+ organizations to drag shows, live concerts and creative installations - the WorldPride Village will be the place where visitors from all over the world come together.

Scattered around the grounds you will find various stages, food trucks, bars and meeting places where inclusivity and freedom are the focus. During the day there is a relaxed festival atmosphere, while at night the square transforms into a lively open-air celebration full of light, music and expression. Also special: couples can say yes in an atmospheric wedding chapel in the middle of the grounds - a symbolic place where love in all its forms is celebrated.

Organizers expect hundreds of thousands of visitors during the second week of WorldPride Amsterdam 2026. In doing so, the capital once again underlines its international position as one of the world's most open and progressive cities in terms of diversity and equality.

“During WorldPride Village, Museumplein transforms into a place where freedom, love and culture come together under the Amsterdam summer sun.”

The absolute highlight will take place on Saturday, August 8, during the official WorldPride Closing Concert. On this final evening, the Museumplein and the Amsterdam skyline will light up one more time in all the colors of the rainbow. International artists, queer icons and local talent will provide a spectacular closing concert full of music, dance and emotional moments. The concert is all about connection, pride and the lasting impact of WorldPride.

With the WorldPride Village, Amsterdam gains not only a major cultural event, but also a place where stories come together, borders blur and the power of inclusivity becomes visible to the entire world.
