The charismatic hospitality man talks passionately about the hospitality business and his passion for coming up with new hospitality concepts. "From restaurants to nightclubs, I've actually done everything in that field. All facets of the hospitality business I have gone through. As an employee, entrepreneur, concept developer and interior designer."
At a young age, Rein Rambaldo was infected with the hospitality virus. His first job in nightclub De Tempel in The Hague was the stepping stone to a successful career in hospitality. After working as an employee for various restaurants, beach clubs and bars, and gaining a wealth of experience, Rambaldo decided to go into business himself.
"I had different types of business, which I always sold again. In fact, the need to design new restaurants and bars for others was growing."
The Hospitality Factory
"From an attic room, I started De Horecafabriek. I had absolutely no knowledge of business, but soon found out that with my passion and hospitality knowledge I could go very far. De Horecafabriek invents, designs, develops, realizes and supervises hospitality concepts from design to total realization. Rein and his team help develop concepts and formulas. Often hospitality entrepreneurs have an idea and location. The Horecafabriek takes everything out of their hands. From start to finish, Rambado helps make an entrepreneur's dream come true. And this goes beyond concept and interior development alone. Even in the field of marketing and social media Rein knows what to do. In Amsterdam, De Horecafabriek is responsible for MaMa Kelly, The Seafood Bar, Lokaal, T's Amsterdam and De Kop van Oost.
MaMa Kelly
Some years back, Rambaldo opened MaMy Kelly in De Binckhorst industrial area. The building that houses the restaurant used to be the boiler house of the Caballero factory. The result is a beautifully designed urban bistro and bar with an industrial character where chicken and lobster, in all sorts of variations, are on the menu.
After the enormous success of MaMa Kelly The Hague, the hospitality entrepreneur decided to make the move to Amsterdam. He took up residence in the Olympic Stadium and opened a second branch of MaMa Kelly on the site of the former Vakzuid and The Harbour Club Kitchen. From the day the all-pink restaurant opened its doors, it has been an instant success.
MaMa Kelly sold
It was recently announced that Rambaldo has sold his MaMa Kelly to focus entirely on De Horecafabriek. The new owner is known for Stan&Co, Popocatepetl and Beers & Barrels, among others. Together with Rambaldo, who will stay on as a consultant, they are now looking for new locations in other cities.
