James van der Velden: From garage to dream home
With a severe shortage of houses in Amsterdam, people are becoming more creative and looking for alternatives. Garages, schools or warehouses are popular objects to convert into dream houses. Interior designer James van der Velden has a nose for dilapidated garages that he knows how to transform into dream houses.
Interior designer James van der Velden took a former garage in Amsterdam East and created his dream home. A 5-room apartment that he designed, renovated and transformed in his own unique way into a home with an industrial interior with authentic elements and a mix of special furniture and home accessories. All spaces are a feast for the eyes.
Van der Velden is a collector of old things, from art to design, stuffed animals, curiosities, old magazines, toys and all sorts of knickknacks. In everything he sees the beauty and knows how to combine it wonderfully. This makes the house unique and you will not easily get bored.
