Beehive Patisserie opens on Warmoesstraat
Patisserie de Bijenkorf recently opened on Warmoesstraat, the place to go for the classics of the Bijenkorf Master Pastry Chef, such as the famous sphere cake and brownie.
For more than 100 years, the Bijenkorf's patisserie has been a household name. When de Bijenkorf opened the doors of its chic department store on Dam Square in 1914, the parterre was equipped with its own pastry shop and lunchroom. With the opening of Patisserie de Bijenkorf, the patisserie will once again have a prominent place on the first floor, with its own entrance.
The assortment
At Patisserie de Bijenkorf, all of the Master Pastry Chef's classics come together on 100 square meters. From the iconic de Bijenkorf Bolt cake, the lemon meringue pie, macarons made from fresh seasonal fruit, the brownie to a mug cake. There will also be a chocolate fountain that allows you to make your own chocolate bars and decorate them with various toppings. In addition to pastries, a selection of festive champagnes and proseccos will be available.
"With the opening of Patisserie de Bijenkorf, a prominent spot in the city has been created, where both creations from our Master Pastry Chef and local Amsterdam products find a stage," said chief pastry chef, Mark Potma.
Sustainable interior
Old chairs and tables have been given a second life, and with the old light fixtures from the Beehive, they provide traditional accents in a new environment. The original character of the pre-existing oak floor has been resurfaced through sanding and varnishing. In addition, the counter is covered with handmade tiles composed of recycled glass and ceramics, and the walls and columns have been painted with a paint based on organic ingredients.
