Over-Amstel: Where craft and gastronomy come together

The municipality has revoked the license of the Over-Amstel Farm restaurant in Ouderkerk aan de Amstel. 'I find it very sad and incomprehensible. Also because our vision is exactly in line with what the municipality and national politics want,' Klaas-Pieter van Til of Over-Amstel said about it.

Just outside the city, on the banks of the Amstel River in the green Duivendrecht polder, lies a special place where past and future come together. Over-Amstel Farm is much more than a historic 1894 farmhouse. It is a vibrant place where agriculture, gastronomy and community come together - and where visitors are invited to rediscover the origins of their food.

The history of Over-Amstel Farmhouse dates back to the 19th century, when this site was already home to agricultural buildings. The current farm, built in 1894, has been fully restored with respect for its past. Today it once again constitutes a working farm where the rhythm of nature is central.

In the yard, cows, sheep, pigs and chickens roam freely. Vegetables, herbs and fruits are grown in the kitchen garden, while artisanal cheeses are produced in the cheese dairy. These products form the basis for much of what happens here: from workshops to dishes in the restaurant and products in the farm store.

The Over-Amstel Farm restaurant is located in the former stable which has been converted into an atmospheric space with bar and open kitchen. Authentic elements of the farmhouse have been carefully integrated into the interior, creating a robust and warm atmosphere. Here the chefs prepare dishes that incorporate as many ingredients from their own land as possible. Vegetables from the kitchen garden, homemade cheeses and products from the immediate area form the heart of the kitchen.

Chef Herb's culinary signature gives each dish its own character, while the menu remains a tribute to the rich agricultural tradition of the Duivendrecht polder. Whether you stop by for a full breakfast, a leisurely lunch or a drink in the greenery - here you literally taste the landscape.

"At Over-Amstel Farm you not only taste the food, but also the story of the polder."

In addition to the restaurant, education also plays an important role. During workshops and tours, visitors discover how food is produced, from farm to plate. In doing so, Over-Amstel Farm aims to be not only a place to enjoy, but also to inspire.

Restaurant op last gemeente gesloten
