FC Hyena is a boutique cinema and petit restaurant on the banks of the IJ River in Amsterdam Noord. The combination of film, food and wine in one place is the starting point of the business. Two small cinema rooms, each with homemade furniture. You sit closer to the screen than in a regular cinema, and the audience is smaller - an evening here feels different than at Pathé.
The programming ranges from arthouse to mainstream: Hollywood classics, special events, distinctive in-house programming as well as films that FC Hyena just thinks are worth showing on the big screen. No fixed formula of only movie house or only blockbusters - the program follows the taste of the people who work there.

The restaurant and wine bar
In the kitchen, they work with high-quality, seasonal ingredients. Dishes come from the wood-fired oven. The menu is deliberately limited: what's there is right. At the bar, the emphasis is on natural wines - bottles you won't find in every liquor store, selected for character and for the casual nature of the place.
FC stands for Film Club. That sounds less than it is - in fact, it is the most accurate label for what FC Hyena does: a club of people who love film and celebrate it with good food and wine.
You can go there for drinks after the movie, for dinner before or after the show, or just for a glass of wine without watching a movie.
Practical for North residents and students
The Cineville pass is valid at FC Hyena. Students and CJP members receive a two euro discount on a ticket. Residents of Amsterdam Noord receive the same discount upon presentation of their garbage card. The latter is a conscious choice: FC Hyena also focuses on the neighborhood, not just the film lover who travels there especially for it.
FC Hyena is at Anvil Street 24, about a 15-minute walk from Noorderpark subway station (line 52).
