From March 10, 2023, Fabrique des Lumières in Amsterdam will present a new immersive exhibition called "Dalí: The Endless Enigma." The exhibition brings Salvador Dalí's famous psychedelic works to life with the help of the music of Pink Floyd. The work of Antoni Gaudí, a great inspiration for Dalí, is also on display in "Gaudí: Architect Of The Imaginary." The exhibition offers a total experience for visitors using virtual projections on the meter-high walls of the Purification Hall on the Westergasfabriek grounds.
Dalí: The Endless Enigma
The Endless Enigma exhibition at Fabrique des Lumières showcases more than sixty years of Dalí's artistic development. Visitors explore surreal and metaphysical landscapes and view his imaginative works that often follow no logic or reason. The art was influenced by landscapes, European avant-garde artists and theater. Surrealism allowed him to express his fears, desires and memories through experimentation. Although he was interested in natural sciences, his work was also shaped by Renaissance, classicism and religious painting.
Music by Pink Floyd
The legendary music of the British band Pink Floyd, known for their technological experiments, is part of Dalí's exhibition. Formed in 1965, the band pushed the boundaries of music with new sounds and visual techniques. Their concerts were spectacular with fireworks effects, lighting and lasers, and their compositions referenced 1970s art, film and literature and embodied a thriving counterculture spirit.
Gaudí: Architect of the Imaginary
The digital art center Fabrique des Lumières also presents Gaudí's works, which were championed by Dalí. The exhibition takes visitors on a dreamlike journey through Gaudí's modernist buildings, showcasing his signature forms and organic motifs. The exhibition is accompanied by the music of American composer Gershwin.
