In Rembrandthuis you can currently find the exhibition "Rembrandt's Social Network" where we find artworks that the master painter made of his friends. In the beautiful museum near Waterlooplein, you will find artworks divided into five categories: childhood friends, blood friends, artist friends, art connoisseurs and friends in need.
Exhibition
In Rembrandt's Social Network, all attention is focused on Rembrandt's relationships and the role they played in his life and work. For even a great artist like Rembrandt was not a solitary genius. Like a good networker, he used his social network actively and deliberately. He had family and friends who helped him, who bought his artworks, who lent him money and challenged him artistically.
The exhibition charts Rembrandt's social network through a number of key players, such as childhood friend Jan Lievens, art expert Jan Six, lifesaver Abraham Francen, artist friends such as Roelant Roghman and, of course, his wife's family; the Uylenburghs, his "blood friends. Striking is the informality of the paintings, drawings and prints, including work by Rembrandt rarely if ever seen in the Netherlands.
Opening hours
Museum The Rembrandt House is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day of the week.
