Four photographers. One city. Four totally different looks. That is the essence of FROM THE STREET, an exhibition that captures Amsterdam not as a postcard, but as a living, breathing metropolis. Each of the photographers brings his or her own interpretation of the street, the rhythm of the city and the people who make it up.
Together, photographers Gosse Bouma, Lotte Ekkel, Niels Koopmans and Bas Losekoot form a multifaceted portrait of Amsterdam. The exhibition shows that the city has not one face, but thousands - depending on where you look and who is behind the camera.

The work of Gosse Bouma breathes a cinematic atmosphere. Foggy mornings, deserted streets and soft contrasts give his images an almost melancholy charge. His Amsterdam seems to stand still for a moment - a rare moment of calm in a usually dynamic city.
Lotte Ekkel focuses her lens precisely on the subtle stories that take place between people. Her photography captures small, human moments: a glance, a gesture, a chance encounter on the sidewalk. The result is intimate and recognizable.
At Niels Koopmans shifts attention to the graphic side of the city. Architecture, lines, shadows and patterns form the basis of his compositions. Through his eye, Amsterdam becomes an almost abstract landscape in which form and structure take center stage.
Bas Losekoot finally seeks the energy of the street. In his work you can see the frenzy of urban life: streams of people, movement, light and contrast. His images feel like snapshots of a city that never sleeps.
FROM THE STREET at Galerie Hugo23 invites visitors to look at Amsterdam anew: more slowly, attentively and with an eye for the stories that take place on the streets every day.
