From July 11 through October 26, 2026, visitors to Nemo Science Museum can immerse themselves in an interactive game world in which not only is played, but above all discovered. Because behind every controller is a story of innovation, creativity and human interaction. In Game On, NEMO shows how video games have become ever smarter and more versatile thanks to technological advances. Where once an Atari 2600 was enough to provide hours of entertainment, today modern games make complete virtual worlds possible in which millions of players come together worldwide.
The exhibit appeals to both seasoned gamers and complete beginners. Whether you grew up with a Super Nintendo or have never held a controller before: Game On makes gaming accessible to everyone. Visitors can try out iconic consoles from different eras, race against players from around the world and discover how games contribute to creativity and problem-solving.

But Game On looks beyond entertainment alone. The exhibition also zooms in on the social impact of video games. How do games bring people together? What influence do they have on emotions and behavior? And how do scientists study the role of gaming in, for example, pain perception and social interaction? It is precisely this combination of playing and learning that makes the exhibition typical of NEMO: interactive, innovative and surprisingly topical.
“For anyone who has ever held a joystick - or is just curious about why millions of people game every day - Game On is without a doubt one of the most fun cultural outings of this summer in Amsterdam. Discover new ways of learning, connecting and creating.”
With Game On, NEMO is also perfectly aligned with the broader theme of ‘Play,’ which is currently the focus of the museum. Together with artist in residence Mary Flanagan the museum explores how play not only brings fun, but also stimulates new ways of thinking and learning.
After a visit to NEMO and the Game On exhibition, the The Roof of NEMO highly recommended. Enjoy the most beautiful view of the city.
