BRET at Sloterdijk: Craft beer and organic food by day, club on weekends

BRET stands on Orlyplein near Sloterdijk station - a red building erected from recycled materials, surrounded by greenery it created itself. Eatery with organic cuisine and more than fifty craft beers on tap by day, club with electronic music on weekends. In April 2026, BRET celebrated its eleventh anniversary.

The building and the place

BRET was founded on the idea of bringing humanity back into the gray industrial environment of Sloterdijk. The red building stands out - you can't drive past it without seeing it. The interior is largely constructed from recycled and reused materials, which is noticeable in the atmosphere: it doesn't feel like a disposable café or a temporary pop-up. The square around it was turned into a green park by BRET itself - unusual for a place that sits so close to concrete office buildings.

Sloterdijk Station is a three-minute walk away, accessible by bus, subway and train. Yet it doesn't feel like a transit spot there. You go there specifically.

By day: food, beer, patio

BRET began as a craft beer bar and then went on to serve organic food from local farmers. That combination endures. The kitchen works with organic and locally sourced produce; the chef manages flavor with as little waste as possible. On Thursdays and Fridays, there is a full dinner. The beer selection runs on tap and in bottle, with more than 50 craft beers from local and international breweries.

BRET has ensured that Sloterdijk is not just a name on train signs - it has also become a destination.

The terrace is spacious. On a sunny day, you look out over the greenery that BRET has planted itself, with West's industrial skyline in the background.

On weekends: club

Once night falls, BRET transforms into a club venue with electronic music. The programming is meticulous: no random bookings, but DJs who stand for something. The venue has welcomed names like Kobosil, Joseph Capriati, Grace Dahl and Abstract Division, and is a regular venue during Amsterdam Dance Event.

For the April 2026 anniversary, Kepler and Dr. Dubplate were behind the turntables. Around the same time, PILOT also took place, with S.A.M. and Voigtmann as headliners - two names that don't claim the genre but are simply at home in it.

Persijn Dutch Eatery shows that Dutch cuisine can be both surprising and versatile. Besides the fact that all the dishes should taste good, they find it especially important here that it is prepared honestly and responsibly. Persijn uses local products and many ingredients from their own greenhouse. You can go there for a cup of coffee, a nice breakfast, lunch and dinner.
