The Cruyff Legacy 14K is one such event where sport, emotion and city come together. Since 2016, every edition has been dedicated to Johan Cruijff and his famous number 14. The distance of the main run is therefore 14 kilometers, quite deliberately chosen as a nod to that number. Everything takes place in and around the Johan Cruijff ArenA in Southeast, where the starting arches, music and crowds of runners create commotion early on.
The day is not just about running. In addition to the 14K Run, there is also a 14K Walk. As a result, a mix of avid runners, walkers with friends or colleagues and people who just want to get a taste of the atmosphere around such a big event participate. The family feel is enhanced by the Kids Run for children aged about 4 to 12, with short distances in and around the stadium. While the adults get ready for their 14 kilometers, the little ones are already bouncing at their own starting boxes.

Behind it all is the Johan Cruyff Foundation, which organizes the event. The proceeds go to sports and play projects for children, especially children with disabilities. Participants set up personal fundraisers, from simple donation pages to creative actions through friends, family or colleagues. On the day itself, you see this reflected in shirts with their own team names, banners along the course and groups clearly walking together for the same cause.

The tenth edition of the Cruyff Legacy 14K is scheduled for Sunday, April 12, 2026. Once again, the Johan Cruijff ArenA will be the focal point, with the familiar combination of 14K Run, 14K Walk and Kids Run. This will keep the event firmly rooted in the soccer and sports culture of Southeast, while raising money for new sports and playgrounds in Dutch neighborhoods. If you have a thing for sports, Cruijff or just getting moving together, this is one of those days that will stay with you.
