NOCKNOCK ART Fair artworks presented by artists

From March 5 to 8, NOCKNOCK ART FAIR returns to the Kromhouthal in Amsterdam-North. Expect work by some 180 artists, presented without a gallery in between - just direct, honest, surprising.

What makes NOCKNOCK ART FAIR special is how close it feels. You walk into the Kromhout Hall, past booths where people making your art explain themselves. No aloofness like in galleries - here, art belongs to conversation, to curiosity.

The location itself, the Kromhout Hall, reinforces that feeling. Large, industrial, high ceilings, often with light coming in through the windows. There is space for work that is normally too large for classical exhibitions. Sculptures, wall-filling paintings, installations - all in balance with the space.

During the four days you will see a mix of styles: photography, drawing, painting, design, sometimes fashion. A highlight this year is Art on the Catwalk, where artists as well as fashion pieces are displayed on the exhibition floor. There are also talks and panels, and a concept that Find Your Fit called - with it you can discover how art fits into your home or interior.

What's nice: you don't have to feel like an expert here. You can walk by, see what speaks, ask questions. The fair is designed so that you can either stroll around quietly or linger on something that really touches you. You choose.

And yes, it will be crowded - NOCKNOCK expects more than 11,000 visitors. But precisely because of that, it feels like a shared urban experience. You hear voices, you see different people at art and you feel that discovery.

"NOCKNOCK makes art human - you look, you hear, you understand."

For you as an Amsterdammer, this is a chance to see art that does not try to impress you with status, but rather shows what creators think, feel and want to share. Not through the showcase of galleries, but face-to-face.
