Marcel and Erwin van Wieringen started small around 2014/2015: their KEK! Beer was brewed as a rental brewery, including at the Sallandse Landbier Brouwerij. No large kettles in-house, but carefully rotating in an existing brewer's facility. This allowed the brothers to establish their own flavor without immediately setting up a full brewery.
The name KEK! is not a marketing ploy, but family history. The beer brand is an ode to their grandfather, better known in the region as Kek van Wieringen. That nickname is now writ large on the bottle, and is the common thread in everything the brothers do: from the naming to the way they present their brand as a true Amstelland family story.

Over the years, KEK! Beer grew into a recognizable local specialty beer from Ouderkerk aan de Amstel. The brothers focus on special beers that refer to their family and the Amstelland region. No anonymous factory beer, but beers that tell the story of two brothers and their grandfather. That local character makes KEK! Beer now a household name in the area.
Thus, KEK! Beer has become more than a label off the shelf. The brothers give their brand an enduring base in Ouderkerk aan de Amstel, with the Kek!-Gezellenhuis as a living room for everyone who fancies a glass of local Amstelland beer with history.
