Comedytrain brings stand-up comedy to Westergas

The era of Comedytrain in Toomler is ending, but the jokes continue. Comedytrain has found a new home on the Westergasfabriek grounds that offers room for familiar and new comedians and a fresh tone.

For decades, Toomler and Comedytrain were synonymous: dark hall, wooden chairs, and the place where Hans Teeuwen, Theo Maassen and Najib Amhali played their first tryouts. Now the collective is moving to Westergas, where more audience and experimentation suit the next generation of comedians.

The new hall is located between the old factory halls and cafes. The atmosphere remains intimate, but the technology is better: warm light, good sound, and a stage that also provides space for music acts and improvisation. The move does not mean goodbye, but an upgrade.

Comedytrain wants to bring comedy back to its core: observations, timing, vulnerability. Here, young comedians can try out what works before entering theaters. The regulars remain - Raoul Heertje, Howard Komproe, Patrick La Vliet - but the lineups change daily.

"Comedytrain remains the nursery of Dutch cabaret - now with the space and energy that Westergas breathes."

The audience gets what it has always been looking for: authenticity and the thrill of the unexpected. Because even with new walls, the essence remains the same - a microphone, a spotlight, and someone daring.
