In the acclaimed play Art, Waldemar Torenstra, Thijs Römer and Frederik Brom take on the roles of friends Serge, Mark and Ivan. Serge proudly tells his friends that he has bought a state-of-the-art painting, but Mark and Ivan think it is idiotic that he has spent a fortune on a white canvas with a few white diagonal lines.
The three friends end up in a heated argument. As their arguments become increasingly personal, they use the painting as an excuse to tell each other the truth. And when Serge then proposes an ultimate challenge to his friends, their 15-year friendship comes under threat. Or was that friendship just an illusion after all?
Art can be seen at the DeLaMar Theater this weekend on March 9 and 10.
