Summer vibes & raw riffs: Jake Bugg rocks the Amsterdam Forest

Grab your guitar sense and let the summer night glide over you: on Friday, Aug. 8, 2025, Jake Bugg will take the stage at Amsterdam's Bostheater. Under the trees, with the air full of sounds and stories, he will serve up his raw indie rock to a select audience - and you can be there.

Imagine the greenery around you, the air prepared for music, and a man whose unpolished voice and sharp guitar licks hit you directly. Jake Bugg - born Jake Kennedy in 1994 in Nottingham - captured hearts with his self-titled debut in 2012, which landed directly at No. 1 on the U.K. album chart. He has already played with Liam Gallagher and John Squire, and now returns with his sixth album A Modern Day Distraction. A raw return to rock, laced with social criticism - think guitar-driven tracks like Zombieland that address personal and collective emotions.

On August 8, things will go wild in the idyllic open-air theater of the Amsterdam Forest. For €40.25, walk in for an evening of nostalgia and new work from British pop culture. Drink your drink on the terrace or get a picnic basket for two and make sure you have a totally relaxing evening .

Previous shows by Bugg, such as at Melkweg (November 2024), felt like a warm reunion with an old friend - full of energy, raw and human in execution. Sometimes he flops in a wrong chord, sometimes he stomps out new tracks, but that's just his charm. That honesty, that humanity, that raw edge - that's what makes his shows unforgettable.

"Under the trees, guitar in hand, he shows that real music never has to sound perfect - as long as you get it right."

In the atmospheric setting of Live at Amsterdamse Bos - a hidden gem near Amstelveen - the music is given room to grow. The amphitheater is intimate, surrounded by trees and summer light. You sit close to the action, feel the bass, breathe the atmosphere, and hear every word.
