LOT61 Coffee Roasters is all about specialty coffee: from roasting the beans to pouring them into cups. The company originated in Sydney, grew further in Brooklyn and then landed in the Netherlands, where the roastery is now the heart of the business. That international route is reflected in the way the coffee is brewed and the mix of Australian and American coffee culture.
The location on Kinkerstraat is at once café and roastery. Here the beans are roasted on site and then used for espressos, filter coffee and other coffee drinks. So you are literally sitting next to where your coffee comes from. The space is set up as a café, with the roastery as the visible engine behind the bar. The focus is on espresso-based drinks, filter coffee and cold brew, complemented by sweets and light bites.

In addition to the neighborhood store, there is a second LOT61 bar in the hotel near the main train station. That spot caters mostly to travelers and people on the go, but is also used as an informal workplace and for quick appointments. There, it's less about the roastery in the background and more about consistent quality in the cup.

An important part is education and training around coffee brewing. Baristas and other professionals learn more about grinding, extraction and different brewing methods. This sharing of knowledge is reflected at the bar, where much attention is paid to how the coffee ends up in the cup. LOT61 has become a household name in the specialty coffee scene, with one foot firmly in the neighborhood and the other in the world of travelers and business customers.
