Drive-in cinema Cinair 4 nights at the NDSM

Drive-in cinemas have been a household name in the US for decades, but in Noord you can just go to them this spring. Cinair Europe, the organization behind this event, is putting up a 144m² screen at the NDSM wharf from April 16 to 19. Four nights, four films, all outside under the open sky. The screen works with 4K LED projection, so even if it's not completely dark you'll have a sharp image.

One of the films to expect is Beauty and the Beast, scheduled for April 18, 2026. In addition, Cinair is screening four new blockbusters and family films spread over the four nights. It's a fine mix for those looking for something that also works with kids, but is equally fun as an outing with friends or as a date.

The setup is simple but well thought out. You drive your car to a spot with a view of the screen, tune your radio to the designated frequency and the sound streams directly into your car. Snacks and drinks are ordered via a QR code in your spot, so you don't have to leave your car. A standard ticket costs €19.45 and includes popcorn and a drink. Want more? Then there's a VIP option with a 3-course dinner at the car. That starts with a taco chicken or a taco veggie as a starter, followed by a pizza of your choice (Margherita, Pepperoni or BBQ Chicken), plus a snack packet to go. Bit of an unexpected combo with movie night, but it works.
