What is your wish for the future of our birthday city? What will Amsterdam look like in 2050 and beyond? What do we eat, how do we move through the streets, how do we live, and how do we live together? These questions will take center stage during the Future Ten Days, which will take place from June 12 to 21, 2025.

A shared vision for the future
Dozens of involved parties are working together to program the Future Ten Days. The goal is not only to organize the festivities, but also to involve all inhabitants of Amsterdam in thinking about their common future. The ten days are a sparkling platform for participation and collaboration in creating a livable Amsterdam.
Preparations in full swing
On June 6, 2024, more than 60 parties interacted to shape programming. This afternoon resulted in new collaborations, inspiration and concrete ideas. For example, plans are being developed for making the public space of the future visible through virtual reality. Young people are also actively involved in these processes. What functions should public space fulfill? How can we increase sustainability in the city through more greenery and heat resistance?
There are also initiatives planned around solar energy and innovative products that will be tested. The Future Ten Days also provides an accessible "car wash" for testimonials and experiences around mental well-being, which will be further elaborated by the parties involved.
An unprecedented festivity
The Future Ten Days will conclude on Saturday, June 21, 2025, with the Festival Op de Ring, celebrating Amsterdam's 750th anniversary. This celebration will take place on the 15 kilometers of car-free Ring Road A10, with music, sports, theater, dance and other festivities. On Friday evening, June 20, the Ring West, South and East between the A5 and A1 exits will be closed after rush hour for this exceptional occasion, leaving one direction open for emergency services.
"As a capital city, you only turn 750 once in a lifetime. That's why we celebrate it big, in a fantastic place, on the longest day of the anniversary year. Everyone is welcome to celebrate Amsterdam's 750th birthday on June 21." said Femke Halsema, mayor of Amsterdam.
With so many exciting events coming up, it is definitely worth marking this annual highlight in your calendar.
