In The Hem you will soon find as many forms of culture as possible. In addition to constant exhibitions, there are performances, film screenings and performances. The place on the IJ should become an attraction for lovers of culture and good food. Similar to the Westergasterrein. Ideal for daytime entertainment outside the city.

Guest curators Edson and Guillaume of Patta
In anticipation of a major renovation by Rem Koolhaas, Het Hem will first serve as a pop-up where an exhibition curated by the owners of Amsterdam streetwear and lifestyle brand Patta will take place starting in June. Guest curators Edson Sabajo and Guillaume Schmidt, were given a free hand to decorate the 200-meter-long building consisting of several floors and 9,000 square meters of surface area to fill it with art, design, fashion and music completely to their liking.

The exhibition will feature work and contributions by Quentley Barbara, Sanford Biggers, Roxette Capriles, Victor Crezée, Aria Dean, Menno Kok, Gabriel Lester, Erik van Lieshout, Dana Lixenberg, Neo Matloga, Terence Nance, Navid Nuur, Rich Medina, Piet Parra, Ebony G. Patterson, Adrian Piper, Rammellzee, Farida Sedoc, Sanlé Sory, Boris Tellegen, The Black Archives.

Deeply rooted in hip-hop culture, Sabajo and Schmidt can count themselves among a cultural vanguard of Amsterdam. As facilitators, they are constantly in touch with their artistic and musical environment. "Music is our very first passion!" says Guillaume. "One of the basic principles of hip-hop is that you have to be unique, that you set yourself apart from the rest and be your own person." This is reflected in the music and rap lyrics, as well as in clothing and the overall lifestyle. More than just a popular music genre, hip-hop takes the form of a philosophy of life, intertwining social social awareness, brotherhood and do-it-yourself creativity.

Boxing School
Artist Gabriel Lester will open a boxing school in the space where female, British boxing champion Michele Aboro will conduct 10-week clinics for young people stuck in their lives.
