The grand opening will be marked with the exhibition Parallel Processes. For this exhibition, artists Brian Elstak, Willem Harbers and Roos van Haaften provided input for the design of the studios. Not a traditional exhibition with art on the wall, but a lively presentation that focuses on the creative process.
Regular groups of children followed their own trajectory of experimentation and free expression leading up to the opening. They worked in specially equipped studios where encounter, research and intuition were leading. The result is an exhibition in which the worlds of children and established artists meet - not hierarchically, but side by side. Parallel, in other words.
With support from TOEVAL GEZOCHT, KiMu was given the space to realize this innovative concept. This immediately positions the museum as a progressive children's museum in Amsterdam, where art education is not about the end result, but about the process, trying and daring.

A new cultural destination in Amsterdam North
With the arrival of KiMu Children's Art Museum, Amsterdam Noord gains an inspiring cultural destination for families, schools and creative minds. In a rapidly developing district, KiMu offers a place where children not only look at art, but make, experience and question it themselves.
"Those who give children the space to create are investing in a future full of imagination."
The museum invites young visitors to discover their own visual language and encourages curiosity as an engine for growth. In doing so, KiMu fits seamlessly into a broader movement in which art and education go hand in hand.
The official opening on March 20 marks the beginning of a new chapter for children's art in Amsterdam. A place where imagination is taken seriously and where the creators of tomorrow are starting today.
