In the exhibition "Body Art," The Tropenmuseum tells all about body adornment such as tattoos, piercings and makeup. The interactive exhibition travels through time and explores different cultures around the world and their ideals of beauty. In addition to more accepted body adornments like tattoos, other forms of body modifications are on display, from implants to intentionally applied scars.
Body Art shows that every decorated person, no matter how extreme it may seem, thereby expresses his or her identity. And that need is under everyone's skin!
