Daytime and evening
By day, Yellow House functions as a workplace with the option of lunch; by night, it becomes a lively spot with cocktails, dinner, snacks and a selection of natural wines. The lunch menu revolves around pizzas, freshly baked in the oven, and burgers with homemade sides. No complicated concept - just eat something good by the water, and not have to leave afterwards.
From Thursday through Sunday, there are club nights. The music is electronic, the sound system is serious, and the space is small enough to feel that way. In the colder months, the wooden bar with its dance floor sets the tone for an evening of dancing; in the warmer months, the terrace takes over that role.

The terrace
The 180-square-meter rooftop terrace overlooks the IJ and the Houthavens. On a summer evening, as the sun disappears behind the buildings of West, this is the best the neighborhood has to offer. Not a tourist lookout but a working terrace at a restaurant where you can also stick around when the music hits.
After dinner, sometimes the music comes on and you can stay for hours. That's exactly the setup.
Programming
Yellow House serves as an intimate stage for local and international artists, from DJs to live acts. The collaboration with Philip Powell, founder of BIRD Rotterdam, for the event Intimate Connection - with DJ Samira Bin Sharifu behind the turntables - shows the direction the programming is taking. No random bookings, but people who stand for something.
The Houthavens as a neighborhood fits the mood of Yellow House: a part of the city that has taken on a creative character of its own in recent years, on the waterfront, just outside the city center.
