Fête du Champagne in the Rembrandt Park
During the long Whitsun weekend from May 16 to 20, the corks will once again plop from the bottles in the sun-drenched Rembrandt Park during Fête du Champagne, the largest champagne festival in the Netherlands. Lovers of the divine goodness can immerse themselves for 4 days in everything to do with champagnes, crémants and wines.
The four-day festival Fête du Champagne Winterfestival will serve more than 100 different types of champagnes, crémants and wines by the glass. Starting at 4 euros per glass of bubbles, the champagne festival at the Westergas promises to be a grand celebration. Famous wineries, from smaller wineries to large champagne houses, will present their liquid gold each in their own stylish way.
In addition to champagnes, there is also a special focus on crémants, a sparkling wine from an area other than Champagne. And in addition to sparkling wines, there are also normal wines to taste for which the festival has entered into an exclusive collaboration with Domaine de la Baume winery from the Languedoc region.
"When we were driving through the Champagne region years ago and came across the "Route du Champagne" sign, the idea arose. How fête would it be if we could organize a festival starring champagne in the Netherlands? The romantic image of the surroundings and the glasses of champagne consumed that day brought more inspiration. In that same weekend the idea for Fête du Champagne was born," said Sebastiaan van Erne (known from the Amsterdam Wine Festival).
To make the Fête du Champagne complete, all sorts of French elements have been added to the festival. From bocce ball to French chansons, grape stomping, champagne quizzes and sabring bottles of bubbles. The Rembrandt Park will also feature a veritable French food market with typical French delicacies and bistros serving French dishes. At the end of the afternoon, all tables and chairs will give way to a dance floor on which to dance until the late hours.
