Imagine this: you’re walking past the Rijksmuseum and come across a monumental installation that would normally be featured at a European festival. That’s the idea behind Sinergy City. From July 17 through 22, 2026, the program will span the Museumplein, Park Frankendael, and Erasmuspark. Works by international and local artists will be on display for everyone to see—no ticket required, no detours. The Synergy Foundation, supported by the city, has been organizing this event since its first edition in 2022 at the NDSM site.
The biggest names in the lineup will take the stage on July 24 at Flevopark, where the Synergy Art Festival will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. The headliner is Islandman, known for his neo-Turkish psychedelia and hypnotic live shows. Roda de Santo, an Afro-Brazilian collective from Lisbon, reinterprets ancestral traditions through music and movement. And then there’s Source Spirits, the work of Rey Jaffet and Sean Behn: following a European tour via the No Art Festival, this will be the first time it’s open to the public in the city. Stine Deja and Ahmed Eid round out the musical portion of the program.
The space in Flevopark is filled with installations you won’t soon forget. Cyril Lancelin brings his monumental geometric forms—the kind of sculptures that make you feel small in a good way. Aéreosculpture presents aerial installations that move with the wind. And then there’s the Museo Aero Solar: a growing collective artwork built from recycled plastic bags, which has been traveling through the city all summer long. In between, Het Danspaleis and Compagnie Barks will present performances that blur the line between audience and stage.
Following a European tour as part of the No Art Festival, Source Spirits will be on view in the city for the first time, with free admission.
The ticketing policy is noteworthy. Children up to and including age twelve get in for free; students pay ten euros; and Flevopark neighbors, Stadspas holders, and people with a refugee background also receive free admission. The regular ticket price is sixteen euros. Sinergy City is thus expanding a little further into the city each year, from NDSM to Museumplein, from Frankendael to Flevopark. Art as something that’s simply there, in the neighborhood, for everyone.
