Amsterdam Now is the amsterdam restaurants guide for Amsterdammers who know what they want. Whether you're looking for a quick Italian dinner, an Indonesian rice table, a neighborhood bistro with a good glass of wine or an evening of multiple courses - the restaurant scene in Amsterdam is wide, diverse and continues to grow. New establishments open every week, in every neighborhood and in every price range. For a current overview, see the amsterdam restaurants guide on Amsterdam Now.
The range of cuisines in Amsterdam is exceptionally varied. Indonesian cuisine has the longest history in the city. Italian and French cuisine are firmly represented in almost every neighborhood. Asian food - from sushi and ramen to dim sum, Korean barbecue and Vietnamese street food - is everywhere. See our overviews of italian restaurants Amsterdam, french restaurants Amsterdam and asian restaurants Amsterdam for specific addresses by kitchen.
Amsterdam's restaurant landscape ranges from accessible neighborhood restaurants and eateries to Michelin-acclaimed fine dining. In between is a growing middle segment of bistros, gastro bars and restaurant concepts that are committed to quality without ceremony. Reservations are now the norm in Amsterdam, especially on weekends and at popular establishments. Some of the restaurants work exclusively with reservations through their own websites or through a reservation tool.
Restaurants are scattered throughout the city, but a few neighborhoods stand out. De Pijp has a high density of international restaurants along Ferdinand Bolstraat and Van Woustraat. The Jordaan combines Italian trattorias with neighborhood cafes and French bistros. Utrechtsestraat in the center is one of the city's most varied restaurant streets. Amsterdam East and North have developed a rapidly growing selection in recent years. For neighborhood-specific addresses, see the community pages on Amsterdam Now.
