Café Restaurant Meyer was established by proud owners Omar Baggen and Thijs Barelds, who are also Cafe Marcella across the street, named after an unusual Amsterdam figure: Meyer Linnewiel, better known as Kokadorus. This striking market merchant himself once stood on the Amstelveld and was famous for his talk, humor and lively trade. His statue still stands on the square. With the name Meyer, this Amsterdam legend now gets a new chapter, on the very spot where he once told his stories.
Inside, Meyer feels immediately familiar. Large windows overlook the Amstelveld, making the restaurant part of the square itself. The interior exudes a warm, accessible atmosphere where local residents, visitors and casual passersby immediately feel at home. The restaurant with its large and sunny terrace overlooking the Amstelveld and the Prinsengracht is a place where you can easily take a seat for a coffee in the morning, lunch or drinks with friends or a long evening at the table.
The kitchen where Chef Marcel van Zomer cooks revolves around recognizable French dishes with worldly influences.
