75 hours of celebration: Amsterdam celebrates 750th anniversary!

Amsterdam's 2025 anniversary year is reaching its climax. During the last 75 hours of the 750th anniversary, there is plenty to do in the city. From the longest cake, the opening of the experience Amsterdam in Motion, dining with all Amsterdammers at 75 locations during Amsterdam Eat! and the official closing concert on the Museumplein.

In 2025, Amsterdam will celebrate its 750th anniversary. A milestone that will be celebrated grandly with a spectacular weekend of festivities exactly 75 hours long. Scattered throughout the city dozens of events will take place that celebrate Amsterdam's versatility. Expect culture, music, dance, food and above all: connection. We tip some must-visits for this unique anniversary weekend.

Monday, Oct. 27: 27 Meters of cake on Dam Square
At 07:50 the mayor will cut the start of the day with a 75-meter-long cake, divided into 7,500 pieces, on Dam Square. Then, between 08:00 and 10:00, the cake will be distributed free of charge throughout the districts of the city so that all of Amsterdam can join in the celebration.

Monday, Oct. 27: Opening Amsterdam in Motion
The permanent experience Amsterdam in Motion officially opens its doors. At the center is a large model of the city that shows how Amsterdam has grown from 1275 to the city of the future. Location: Zuiveringshal on the Westergasterrein.

Monday, Oct. 27: Amsterdam Eat!
Scattered throughout the city, Amsterdam residents and visitors are invited to eat and drink together at long tables at 75 eateries.

Monday, Oct. 27: Official closing concert Museum Square
Monday evening from 8:30 p.m., all Amsterdammers are welcome at Museumplein for the official closing concert with performances by well-known Dutch artists such as Maan, Karsu, Yves Berendse, Wibi Soerjadi and Kris Kross Amsterdam. The evening promises a varied program, from classical to pop and from Dutch song to dance. The artists will perform in surprising duos.
