One hundred and fifty artists from forty-five countries, all working on the same album, and none of them consulting with each other. That\u2019s the premise of *Coldplay: A Film for the Future*, the show on display this summer at Fabrique des Lumi\u00e8res. Each artist was given excerpts from *Moon Music* and was free to let their creativity run wild, without coordinating with the others. The result is a patchwork of styles that somehow comes together, a collection of visions you\u2019d normally never see side by side.<\/h2>\n

The show had already traveled through Paris, London, Manchester, and Seoul before arriving at Westergasfabriek. The Fabrique des Lumi\u00e8res auditorium has walls up to 17 meters high, making it ideal for 360-degree projections. Images and music come from all directions, supported by spatial audio and lighting effects that completely illuminate the historic walls. During the 45-minute show, the song lyrics are projected directly onto those walls. The audience sings along, surrounded by imagery on every wall, and that sing-along is exactly what the evening is all about.<\/p>\n

The soundtrack is the album *Moon Music*, stretched out over those 45 minutes of images and sound. It is precisely this fact\u2014a single album and 150 completely independent interpretations of it\u2014that makes each segment feel just a little different from the one before. One moment, bright colors and abstract shapes dominate; the next, the projection suddenly becomes calm and almost melancholic. That shift in tone\u2014without any prior coordination among the creators\u2014is exactly what sets this edition apart from a typical light show. The audience is right in the middle of that diversity, amidst 150 different perspectives on the same sound.<\/p>\n

Fabrique des Lumi\u00e8res is described as the largest immersive art center in the Netherlands, located on Pazzanistraat in the former Westergasfabriek. Normally, the venue hosts exhibitions of classical and modern art, with walls that lend themselves to projections on a scale found nowhere else in the country. This summer, the program is taking a different approach.<\/p>\n

The show won\u2019t be around forever. It\u2019s only on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings, from July 9 through August 22, 2026, with two performances each evening at 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. After that, it\u2019s over, and Moon Music will disappear from the walls of Westergasfabriek once again.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
