Vincenzo Patti, born and raised in Partinico, Sicily, makes his dough fresh every day at the restaurant on Bilderdijkstraat, where he runs the business together with Simone. Within two years of opening, the restaurant was voted Restaurant of the Year 2023 by the public, with support from Italie Magazine. On TripAdvisor, it has a rating of 4.7 out of 89 reviews and ranks 473rd out of more than 5,500 restaurants in the city.

Patti didn’t just come out of nowhere. He learned his craft in Sicily, where making pasta is more than just a profession—it’s a tradition passed down from generation to generation. You can taste that background in the menu: dishes from Palermo, Syracuse, and the area around Mount Etna, prepared in the classic style but with room for his own twist. Simone stands by his side, and together they keep the restaurant small and personal, exactly as they envisioned it.

Within two years of opening, the restaurant was named Restaurant of the Year 2023 by the public, with support from *Italie Magazine*.

The restaurant has a cozy, family-friendly atmosphere—not a large dining room with dozens of tables, but a space where you can almost smell the kitchen. During the day, they serve an Italian breakfast with Sicilian tastings—something you won’t find at many other places in the city. If you’d rather eat at home, you can take advantage of the Sicilian Pick-up, which is perfect for a hassle-free evening or a get-together with friends.

The menu features dishes that showcase the essence of Sicilian cuisine. The tagliatelle al ragù is a staple, as is the pasta alla Norma with eggplant and ricotta salata. For those looking for something a little different: gamberoni with pistachios, or squid ink spaghetti with tomatoes, mussels, and clams. There’s also tagliatelle with pistachio pesto and sun-dried tomatoes. Dessert is where things really get Sicilian: cassata Siciliana, pistachio misù, ricotta misù, a baked cassata, and rum-soaked babà from Sal De Riso.

Bilderdijkstraat, right in the heart of Oud-West, is a street lined with small eateries, but Vicio Il Mastro Pastaio stands out because of its founder’s background.
