No mirrors to constantly check yourself out, no harsh fluorescent lighting that highlights every drop of sweat. Just the music, the rhythm of the pedals, and forty other people making the exact same movements. The studio’s motto is simple: Music On. World Off. And you can feel it from the very first minute, even before the first beat has fully kicked in.

Behind the concept is Rostudios, a social fitness company that was founded in 2015 and now employs more than 500 people worldwide. Employees such as Martijn Roordink, Hedwig Puello Serna, Joey Bernier, and Fruzsina Bouet keep the studios running, from the Ceintuurbaan in De Pijp to locations on Herengracht and in Nieuwe Passeerdersstraat. Rostudios continues to expand: in addition to studios in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany, a new location is also opening in New York.

The studio's motto is simple: Music On. World Off. And you can feel it from the very first minute.

The class itself, called RORIDE, lasts 45 minutes and is structured as a full-body workout. No chit-chat, no ten-minute warm-up—just hit the ground running. The instructor sets the pace, the music sets the energy, and the dim lighting ensures that no one is aware of who’s sitting next to them. That’s exactly the point: everyone looks inward, not at the mirror.

Rocycle isn’t the only thing Rostudios does. Under the same umbrella is Roform, a Pilates reformer concept that operates at a completely different pace but shares the same philosophy: focus, community, and a studio that feels like more than just a gym with rows of bikes. If you get tired from cycling, you can use the studio’s showers, lockers, and towels after class, so you can head back out onto the street hassle-free.

The studio at Ceintuurbaan 77 is located right in the heart of De Pijp, among the cafés and shops that have defined the neighborhood’s identity for years. Bookings are made through the Rostudios app or via ClassPass, which makes it easy to get started for those who don’t want to commit to a membership right away. For a neighborhood that’s already accustomed to hustle and bustle, a studio where the lights go out and the music takes over fits in perfectly. Once you’re inside, you can’t hear the city for a moment.

Cycling in the dark, with music that sets the tone for the class: that’s what Rocycle is all about.
