Pesca on Rozengracht calls itself a \u201ctheater of fish,\u201d and that\u2019s no exaggeration. There\u2019s no menu hanging on the wall\u2014because there isn\u2019t one. Every day, the catch determines what\u2019s served. When you arrive, you walk past an open raw bar, point to what you want to eat, and the rest takes care of itself. It\u2019s a concept that\u2019s been working for ten years, and once a month it\u2019s scaled up into something bigger: the Gambashow.<\/h2>\n

The Gambashow is at the heart of what Pesca does. Up to 1,000 guests gather around one long table, and what\u2019s served is fresh shrimp\u2014in large quantities. Along with that: fresh oysters from the raw bar and wine that flows freely. It\u2019s not a fancy dinner where you whisper about wine pairings. It\u2019s boisterous, communal, and generous. Everyone eats the same thing, everyone sits together, and the evening revolves around that one dish whose name says it all.<\/p>\n

The interior on Rozengracht was renovated in 2025: a new floor, a refreshed interior, and a robotic arm in the kitchen that operates the deep fryer. That last addition isn\u2019t just for show\u2014it\u2019s for the calamari that comes out of that very same deep fryer. Technology serving the kitchen, not the guests. The restaurant is located in the Jordaan, on a street that has long been a mix of long-time residents, outdoor patios, and restaurants that know their place.<\/p>\n

For its 10th anniversary in 2025, the Gambashow was held outdoors. The city\u2019s longest table was set up on the Keizersgracht, seating 1,000 guests and featuring 10 BBQs. Anyone who hadn\u2019t managed to get a ticket in time for a sold-out event could search for a golden ticket hidden somewhere in the city. The anniversary was a big celebration, but the concept remained the same: shrimp, oysters, and wine, shared with people you hadn\u2019t met before.<\/p>\n
