Because behind every controller is a story of innovation, creativity and human interaction. In Game On, NEMO shows how video games have become ever smarter and more versatile thanks to technological advances. Where once an Atari 2600 was enough to provide hours of entertainment, today modern games make complete virtual worlds possible in which millions of players come together worldwide.

The exhibit appeals to both seasoned gamers and complete beginners. Whether you grew up with a Super Nintendo or have never held a controller before: Game On makes gaming accessible to everyone. Visitors can try out iconic consoles from different eras, race against players from around the world and discover how games contribute to creativity and problem-solving.

But Game On looks beyond entertainment alone. The exhibition also zooms in on the social impact of video games. How do games bring people together? What influence do they have on emotions and behavior? And how do scientists study the role of gaming in, for example, pain perception and social interaction? It is precisely this combination of playing and learning that makes the exhibition typical of NEMO: interactive, innovative and surprisingly topical.

“For anyone who has ever held a joystick - or is just curious about why millions of people game every day - Game On is without a doubt one of the most fun cultural outings of this summer in Amsterdam.
