Son Mieux doesn't do it half-heartedly. Around the release of their new album ’24 Hours,’ the Hagenaars built a live concept that fits exactly what the album is about: one full day, from night to morning, born out of a period of personal breakup and doubt. Friday, April 10 is immediately the official release moment of the album.

The format is as simple as it is ambitious. Show 01 begins at 11:12 a.m. on Friday morning, when the day is just getting going. Show 02 follows that same Friday at 7:22 p.m., as evening sets in. Then it continues through the night: Show 03 starts exactly at 00:00, on the border from Friday to Saturday. And those who want to experience it all the way through can turn up on Saturday morning for Show 04 at 09:24. At each show, Son Mieux plays the ’24 Hours’ album in its entirety, from beginning to end, but the setting and fringe program match the part of the day. An afternoon show feels different from a night concert, and that's exactly the point.

The location fits the scale of the idea. The Wester is a monumental industrial building on the Westergasterrein, in the Baarsjes. The space is 700 square meters, 46 meters long and almost 10 meters high, with a characteristic wooden roof construction and large windows that let in lots of light during the day. Up to 770 visitors can fit in at a time. For a morning show, that space looks completely different from the midnight version, and that's part of the concept. Son Mieux uses architecture as a tool.

Son Mieux uses the architecture of The Wester as a tool, from morning light to midnight darkness.

Tickets went on pre-sale March 4 available to newsletter subscribers. The album ’24 Hours’ takes center stage at all four shows. Son Mieux chose The Wester for a reason: the space has something timelessly industrial that works for all hours of the day. Whether you go there early in the morning or in the middle of the night, the venue absorbs it. That makes this weekend something to really plan for.

Four shows in 24 hours, four times, four moods. Son Mieux doesn't do it half-heartedly.
