On Keizersgracht sits a gallery that looks beyond the canal. GRIMM opened in 2005 and has since built up branches in three cities: in addition to the canal house in the city center, a space on Duke Street in London's St. James's and a location on White Street in New York's Tribeca. Co-owners Jorg Grimm and Hannah Reefhuis are thus building something you rarely see: a gallery that truly operates internationally from the Keizersgracht.<\/h2>\n

The Amsterdam branch is run on a daily basis by Sebastiaan Brandsen and Jorien de Vries, both Senior Director and Partner. Lorenza Brancadoro, as Gallery Manager and Director of Design, manages the day-to-day operations and interior design of the space. Fenna Albrecht and Eve Dijkema complete the local team. In London, Timothy Davies is Director; in New York, Callie McConnico is Senior Director. For the Asian market, Leanna Chen has been appointed Director Asia. Together they represent more than 35 emerging and mid-career artists.<\/p>\n

In the coming months, there is plenty of reason to visit. On April 10, the Amsterdam space opens Anna Ruth's solo exhibition \u2018Close Quarters,\u2019 on view through May 23, 2026. The exhibition demonstrates what the gallery is all about: giving artists space for a full, focused presentation. At the same time, Dirk Braeckman's work opens in London on April 23 in the exhibition \u2018Although,\u2019 which runs through May 30, 2026.<\/p>\n

GRIMM publishes its own publication series with critical essays on its member artists. That's something most galleries don't do.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

In addition to its exhibitions, GRIMM publishes its own publication series with critical essays on its member artists. This is something most galleries do not do: really invest in the substantive underpinnings of the work. The gallery also subscribes to the Dutch Gallery Fair Practice Code and is affiliated with IGA, NGA and GCC. The Amsterdam branch is open Tuesday through Saturday. Please note that the canal house is not wheelchair accessible.<\/p>\n
