What began as a way to attract more visitors to the city transformed into a powerful cultural and social statement that brings hundreds of thousands of people together each year.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1044\" data-end=\"1416\">The exhibition, which runs from July 2 to September 27, 2026, is part of WorldPride's official cultural program. This special year marks not only the first time Amsterdam has hosted this global event, but also important anniversaries such as 80 years of the COC and 25 years of opening marriage to same-sex couples.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1044\" data-end=\"1416\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-80351\" title=\"canal-pride-amsterdam\" src=\"https:\/\/www.amsterdamnow.com\/app\/uploads\/canal-pride-amsterdam.jpg\" alt=\"canal-pride-amsterdam\" width=\"1280\" height=\"854\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.amsterdamnow.com\/app\/uploads\/canal-pride-amsterdam.jpg 1280w, https:\/\/www.amsterdamnow.com\/app\/uploads\/canal-pride-amsterdam-600x400.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.amsterdamnow.com\/app\/uploads\/canal-pride-amsterdam-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.amsterdamnow.com\/app\/uploads\/canal-pride-amsterdam-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.amsterdamnow.com\/app\/uploads\/canal-pride-amsterdam-18x12.jpg 18w, https:\/\/www.amsterdamnow.com\/app\/uploads\/canal-pride-amsterdam-400x267.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.amsterdamnow.com\/app\/uploads\/canal-pride-amsterdam-500x334.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1280px) 100vw, 1280px\" \/><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1418\" data-end=\"1756\">Using unique historical photos, archival material and personal stories, a rich and layered picture of three decades of Pride unfolds. The canals serve not only as a backdrop, but as a living stage on which the city displays its values: freedom, diversity and solidarity.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1758\" data-end=\"2203\">A special role is played by artist and queer activist Yamuna Forzani, whose work gives the exhibition a contemporary and artistic dimension. Using textiles, performance and installation art, she creates a visual translation of a queer utopia in which community and expression are central. In collaboration with guest curator Gijs Stork, the exhibition will also have a strong focus on community building and cultural dialogue.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p data-start=\"1758\" data-end=\"2203\"><em>\u201cOn the canals of Amsterdam everything comes together: past, struggle and celebration - a current of love that keeps moving.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p data-start=\"2205\" data-end=\"2421\"><em data-start=\"2205\" data-end=\"2228\">Love on the Canals<\/em> shows that Pride is more than a celebration.
