The golden trio has therefore spared no expense to turn the monumental building into a sexy restaurant of international allure.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Un-Dutch so cosmopolitan<\/strong><br \/>\nIn the bustle of the Rokin, the exterior of\u00a0<span class=\"il\">Satchmo<\/span>\u00a0positive. The rather \"austere\" Dutch Classicism of the time (1647) typifies the architectural style of the former commercial building. Inside, a completely different world awaits; the interior can be called tantalizing. In the casual diner, the fiery onyx bar immediately catches the eye. Wooden beams carry the low ceilings, and the intimate arrangement with velvet-covered furniture brings an unexpected, warm living room feel - an atmosphere that calls for an aperitif at the bar.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5773\" src=\"https:\/\/www.amsterdamnow.com\/app\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Satchmo3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"593\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.amsterdamnow.com\/app\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Satchmo3.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.amsterdamnow.com\/app\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Satchmo3-430x425.jpg 430w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"il\"><strong>Symphony in the kitchen<\/strong><br \/>\nAs idiosyncratic as genius Armstrong did with his jazz, Chef de Cuisine, Thijmen Veenman and his kitchen brigade build classics with their own (wise) twist. Veenman improvises in flavor and formatting. \"Take the steak tartare, we cook the egg yolk sous-vide (53 minutes at 63 degrees Celsius) so it becomes spreadable. The house-made kimchi and sriracha sauce add excitement and spice, the pink Chinese radish and bright yellow cauliflower add crunch and color. Our dishes must excel in every way; taste perception is influenced by the look of a dish,\" Veenman said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Satchmo offers a menu full of international delights for brunch and dinner such as Tuna Tataki with truffle teriyaki, scallops with soy vinaigrette, lobster 'a la plancha' or a wide choice of robust steak-cuts. Think of an impressive tomahawk steak or tender c\u00f4te de boeuf, but also a good old sirloin steak is not lacking. For even more culinary delight, there are generous toppings: foie gras, caviar and truffle and a surprising four- to six-course tasting menu.
